AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer, has completed their biggest brewing factory in Asian-Pacific region and officially put the facility into operation yesterday. This facility is located in Fujian Province in China and will produce 1.5 million tonne of beer at its full power, including beer such as Budweiser and Sedrin.

Import Tariff Reduction in China from December
Since December 1th 2017, the import tariff of 187 consumer goods including food, medicine, and common products have been reduced in provisional way in China.
For frozen Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), frozen Danube salmon (Hucho hucho), other frozen crabs, and Mallotus villosus excluding edible fish offal, the tariffs have been fell from 10% to 5%. For frozen boiled Northern Pandalus (Pandalus) excluding shrimps and other frozen prawns, they have been reduced from 5% to 2%. For other live, fresh or chilled rock lobster and other seacrawfish (Palinurus spp. Panulirus spp. Jasus spp.), they have been decreased from 10% to 5%. For other live, fresh or cold crab which are in shell or not and other live, fresh or chilled Stromboid conchs (Haliotis spp.), they have been reduced from 14% to 7%.

Australian Aquaculture Set to Double in Value

3 Oct - Australia's aquaculture industries are set to double their value to $2 billion following today's launch of the Federal Government's National Aquaculture Strategy at the Seafood Directions 2017 conference in Sydney.
Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources Anne Ruston said the strategy outlined a sustainable pathway to industry growth in response to increasing demand for safe, clean and green Australian seafood.
"World seafood demand is continuing to grow and with wild-catch fishery production plateauing, we need the aquaculture industry to fill the gap," Minister Ruston said.
"Australia's aquaculture industry has an enviable reputation for producing high quality and sustainably sourced seafood.
"This strategy has identified priority areas for the Australian, state and territory governments and industry to parlay the aquaculture's reputation for quality into future growth with the aim of doubling the value of the industry by 2027.
"Australian aquaculture is well placed to take advantage of growing world demand with an abundance of space, clean water, a stable investment environment and high quality education and training.
"We want to empower industry to harness the opportunities of increasing world seafood demand, and to support our commitment to develop a more competitive and sustainable aquaculture sector.
"Through this strategy we will create more jobs and more high quality seafood for home consumption and for export to help feed a growing global population.
"The strategy has been developed in consultation with key aquaculture industry representatives and members of state and the Northern Territory governments."

Tariff for Whisky to enter China reduces from 10% to 5%, effective from 1 December 2017.
China’s State Council has reduced import tariff of 187 products, among which, liquor has seen the largest tariff reduce.
For Vermouth and other mix liquor packaged under 2 Liters, the tariff rate for the most favoured nations will reduce from 65% in 2017 to 14% starting from 1 December 2017. Tariff for Brandy and whisky will reduce from 10% in 2017 to 5% starting from 1 December 2017.

30th Conference of OIE Regional Commission for Asia, the Far East and Oceania held in Putrajaya of Malaysia
The ongoing 30th Conference of the Regional Commission for Asia, the Far East and Oceania of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) kicked off in Putrajaya, Malaysia on 20 November, 2017. Mr. Zhang Zhongqiu, China's Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) and President of the OIE Regional Commission, attended and addressed the conference.
CVO Zhang Zhongqiu stated that in order to achieve the goals set down in the OIE 6th Strategic Plan and the Regional Action Plan (2016-2020), the OIE regional members have stepped up their efforts and made significant progress in preventing major animal diseases such as bird flu and foot-and-mouth disease, addressing antimicrobial resistance, securing effective supply of animal products and safeguarding public health. He stressed that it is veterinary professionals’ mission and responsibility to improve regional animal health and secure animal-origin food safety. China is willing to, under the framework of the OIE, work closely with regional members and take coordinated actions and measures to push forward the mission, tackle all challenges, improve regional and global animal health and facilitate the building of a community of shared future.
This Regional Conference will last for five days and the discussions are set to focus on farm biosafety, animal movement control, antimicrobial resistance in Asia and the Pacific, aquatic animal health information management and the One Health topic, among others.
A total of 120 participants attended the Conference, including representatives of OIE headquarters, the Regional Representation and members of Asia, the Far East and Oceania, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and some non-governmental organizations.
China, ROK reach agreement on fishing access arrangement for 2018
The 17th Annual Meeting of China-ROK Joint Fisheries Committee was held in Chongqing, China on 16 November 2017.
Delegations of China and ROK respectively reviewed the implementation of the China-ROK Fisheries Agreement in 2017. The two sides discussed fishing access arrangement in waters within the jurisdiction of China and Korea's exclusive economic zones (EEZ), the maintenance of order in offshore operations, among other important issues for 2018, reached consensus and signed Minutes of the meeting. Under the Minutes, 1,500 vessels (auxiliary vessels excluded) shall be allowed to enter each other's EEZ for finishing within a quota of 57,750 tons for 2018.
After the meeting, the two sides held the 8th China-ROK high-level meeting on fisheries and exchanged views on bilateral fisheries cooperation, sustainable development of global fisheries and other issues of common interests.
Minister Han Changfu meets his Canadian counterpart
Minister Han welcomed Mr. McCauley and stated that being big agricultural countries, China and Canada enjoy great complementarities and thus broad prospect for cooperation in agriculture. He hoped that the two sides could strengthen S&T exchanges and cooperation that highlights green agriculture to promote sustainable agricultural development as China is advancing green development in agriculture. Minister Han also proposed that the two sides strengthen fisheries cooperation, conduct research collaboration in soybean and rice, and promote agricultural trade and investment.
Canadian Minister fully agreed with Minister Han. He expressed that the Canadian side is willing to work with China to further bilateral agricultural cooperation for win-win outcome.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Biotechnology between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, pledging further cooperation in agricultural biotechnology.
