Chilean mussel sales will double in Asia
The world's largest mussel company, Chilean St-Andrew-Chiloère, plans to increase its annual production of mussels by 56 percent to 25,000 tonnes in the next three years.
At present the company's annual output of 16,000 tons of mussels, 95-97% of frozen products, mainly exported to Europe and the United States.But the Asian market, especially in Japan and China, the market demand continues to rise, while India and Africa, the market demand has increased.The company's sales of this year or will double in Aisa.
Current prices of mussels isUS $ 3.3 per kilogram in the range 100-200 and US $ 3 per kilo at the range 200-300, and whole shell mussels is US $ 2.3 per kilogram.
