China feed industry market research report
The feed industry in China has consolidated at an even faster pace than other regions in the world in terms of integrations and acquisitions.
In 2015, 9,511 feed enterprises and manufacturers were operating in China compared to 2005 when this was 15,518. This represents a 6,007 decrease within 10 years.
2015 China feed production was 200 million tonnes. The top 5 feed producers, and hold 22% of China’s total feed production. Top 10 feed companies produced 33% of China’s total feed production. China’s feed industry is growing quickly, while consolidating at the same time.
It is clear that the dramatic rise in the cost of feed is increasing the need for all companies to look very closely at the issue of feed efficiency. In addition, technological advances in raw material production will provide new types of feed raw materials that will seriously alter the way the feed is formulated

China Aquaculture Industry Market Research
China accounts for one-third of the world’s fish production, and two-thirds of the world’s aquaculture production. The total aquaculture production was approximately 45.5 MMT in 2013, showing an increase of 6% from 2012, which recorded at 42.9 MMT.
There are approximately 50 different commercially important fish species cultured in China today. The most common of these species includes: carps, tilapia, blunt nose black bream. Carps are the most popular fish cultured species. Freshwater fish production account 95.6% of total cultured fish production
Guangdong, Hubei, Jiangsu, Hunan and Jiangxi are the largest fish producing provinces in China.
White leg shrimp are the most popular shrimp cultured in China, and Fujian produced the largest volume China’s total white leg shrimp.
China is also the leading exporter of fish in the world. In terms of importation, they rank sixth overall. Over the last few years, China has had to increase the amount of fish imported in order to meet the demands of the market.
Aquaculture production market has great potential in future years generally for the following reasons: large unexplored sea area, growing demand of consumers who are not satisfied by pork and beef, etc.

Vietnam Poultry Industry Market Research
The poultry industry is very fragmented. Approximately 65% of households produce less than 200 birds annually. Small farms have resulted in poor biosecurity and frequent disease challenges
Traditional extensive household poultry production is by far the most common production system in the country, where poultry is raised in backyards, gardens, and often free to range on neighboring land.
Red River Delta, Northern Midland, Mountain and North central area regions have the highest population of poultry in Vietnam. The Red River Delta region, the largest poultry producing region, accounts for 26% of total poultry production in Vietnam
Vietnam is a market for fresh chicken (85%). Vietnamese prefer to purchase poultry products in wet market. Poultry meat consumption was 789,000 tonne in 2013
The transition of part of Viet Nam’s poultry sector to larger scale industrial production is inevitable. Among other considerations, the following factors will influence the viability of smaller producers to cope with a changing domestic poultry industry:
1. Current government policies do not encourage traditional extensive poultry raising. These policies are based on assumptions of substandard efficiency and biosecurity.
2. The proportion of poultry products coming from commercial farms has increased rapidly in recent years, including intermediate supplies of poultry meat, eggs, chicks, and breeding stock.
3. Wider application of certification and traceability standards will improve product quality and market-determined prices

Vietnam Aquaculture Industry Market Research
Vietnam aquaculture sector has seen fast and stable growth, making an important contribution to the national economy growth for last over 10 years.
However, Vietnam’s fisheries industry is very fragmented; approximately 80% of fish production comes from small farms.
Vietnam has become the third largest shrimp producer in the world, with an output of 548,000 tonnes in 2013, up 12.3 % from the previous year
Main fish producing regions are all located in the South.
Vietnam’s aquaculture industry offers a lot of opportunities, due to:
1. High commitment and participation from Government, Industry and companies for: Food safety, environment & social responsibility
2. Ability to supply the big volume and safe stable quality seafood products
3. Agreements and FTAs with many countries and territories and an experienced exporting culture

Indonesia Poultry Industry Market Research
Indonesia’s poultry sector is fragmented, with most of the chicken farms owned by small farmers. This is largely due to the Indonesian government regulations which prefer chicken farms to be owned by small farmers with a view to improving their economic well-being. The implication of this regulation is that the sector’s value chain is more traditional (nonintegrated) with most of the big companies only having a stake in the upper level of the value chain (poultry feeds and day-old-chicks (DOC) breeding farms).
At 7 kg per capita, poultry meat consumption in Indonesia is the third lowest in the Asia
region after India and Cambodia. We believe poultry meat consumption in the country has ample room to grow as chicken is Indonesia’s most favourite meat. Chicken meat
consumption accounts for 64% of all meat consumed in Indonesia. This is because chicken meat is the most affordable source of animal protein and the majority of
Indonesian population (86%) practises Islam which prohibits consumption of pork.
We expect Indonesia’s poultry meat consumption to witness an 18% CAGR during
2013–17E compared with an only 7% CAGR during 2007–12. The higher growth in consumption should be supported by: (1) Indonesia’s newly emerging middle class; (2) chicken as an affordable source of animal protein; and (3) Indonesia’s GDP per capita, which is at a sweet spot as growth in meat consumption accelerates.
Traditionally, most Indonesians prefer buying live chicken rather than buying processed
chicken products. While this has a religious angle to it, it also has to do with the freshness of the product. Yet, we believe there is ample room to grow for processed chicken products as Indonesian consumers, especially in urban areas, are starting to switch to processed chicken products not only due to convenience but also due to the product’s hygiene and quality.

Malaysia Broiler Industry Market Research
Malaysia Broiler Industry Market Research
The poultry industry is the most advanced of the livestock sector, and it is the most commercialized and integrated in its production system. The industry has been in a continuous transformation mode towards adopting the most modern production technology and feeding available.
There are increasing use of environmentally controlled closed housing and automation of feeding and egg collection systems.
The industry relies almost entirely on imported genetic resources and the major commercial breeds are reared at the grand parent and parent stock level.
Large scale poultry processing is slowly gaining market share as pressure is exerted by local government authorities for retailers to cease live bird trading in wet markets. There are presently about 8 processing plants recognized by the Veterinary Department under its Veterinary Health Mark Standards. Many of these plants are associated with processing facilities for chicken meat based further processed goods.
The industry is well supported by commercial feed mills supplying compound feeds based on imported corn and soy bean meal and are increasingly handled in bulk form.
