Minister Han Changfu meets FAO Director-General
Minister Han Changfu on 13 May 2017 met with Dr. José Graziano da Silva, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), who was in Beijing for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF). The two sides exchanged views on furthering China-FAO cooperation.
Minister Han extended a warm welcome to Dr. José Graziano da Silva for his participation in the BRF and expressed his hope that the FAO could work with the MOA to boost agricultural cooperation among countries and regions along the Belt and Road. The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening pragmatic cooperation on the South-South Cooperation, Global Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS), human resources development and Chinese language services in FAO work.
Graziano da Silva thanked the MOA for its long-standing support to the FAO and highly appreciated China's contribution to global sustainable agricultural development. He also expressed the willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China and actively align FAO strategic plans with China.
