" Xinjiang sheep cattle market supply steady growth by 2013." The reporter was told by the regional Animal Husbandry Department.
Industry statistics department predicted that by the end of 2013 Xinjiang region (excluding Corps) livestock amount will reach 53,000,000, an increase of 3.2% compared with year 2012; livestock slaughter number was 55.5 million, an increase of 4.5%, of which 3.66 million cattle slaughter while sheep 42.6 million, an increase of 4.5% and 5.1% respectively year on year.
Another statistics data shows that in 2013 mutton prices rose slightly in the first quarter in Xinjiang region. Bone-in mutton’s average price was 57.45 CNY / kg; this price got smooth fluctuations in the second quarter, average price was 62.33 RMB / kg; and slightly decreased in the third quarterand the bone-in lamb price was 62.08 CNY / kg.
In November 2013, the average price of bone-in mutton was 62.24 CNY / kg in the Xinjiang region, which was higher than the countrywide average price 61.25 CNY / kg. Meanwhile affected by domestic beef prices rose sharply, beef price in Xinjiang region continued to raise, the average price of boned beef rise from 54.49 CNY / kg the first quarter of 2013 to 62.4 CNY /kg in November, which is close to the national average beef price.
This year Xinjiang region has increased the policy support to sheep cattle industry and planned to invest 1.7 billion RMB from 2013 to 2020 to promote this industry. Data shows that from 2012 to the end of June, 2013, the region’s livestock loan balance reached14.97 billion CNY , of which about 75% of the loan was for sheep beef cattle industry.
