25 Oct - Hendrix Genetics partners with Integrated Aquaculture International LLC (iAqua) to accelerate the Kona Bay shrimp breeding program based in Hawaii and Malaysia.
Hendrix Genetics has completed a deal with Integrated Aquaculture International LLC (iAqua) to participate in the breeding and production of shrimp for the global industry. IAI is an aquaculture technology company on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Its breeding centre produces genetically-improved Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) broodstock under the brand name “Kona Bay” and will soon launch its line of SPF black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon).
The participation by Hendrix Genetics will accelerate iAqua’s shrimp breeding program by introducing advanced genetic and genomic technologies developed by Hendrix Genetics. The deal will also provide the capital necessary for the development of state-of-the-art breeding facilities for both shrimp species in Kauai, as well as the development of model hatcheries for the production of quality postlarvae in key market regions around the world. In addition, a comprehensive program for specific disease resistance will be implemented to further enhance the quality of Kona Bay broodstock.
Hendrix Genetics already supplies Atlantic salmon eggs and smolts, rainbow trout eggs, as well as cutting-edge genetic services to the international aquaculture industry and has led the industry for some time in the development of QTLs and genomic selection in Salmonid species. This is Hendrix Genetics’ first entry into warm water species, which complements its already strong global position in salmon and trout breeding.
TRS signed CNY 1.17 billion green farming investment agreement
TRS signed MOU with Tianshui municipal government (Gansu province) to invest CNY 1.17 billion in building integrated pig production base, including 1 nucleus farms with 1,200 head GGP and 2,400 head GP，4 PS farms with 10,000 sow in each farm, 20(or 10) fattening pig farms, which can each produce 50,000 head(or 100,000 head) pigs annually ,and 1 feed mills with production capacity of 0.3 MMT annually. The total sales revenue will reach CNY 2.8 billion.

The new “Hygienic Standard for Feed” is a mandatory national standard
On October 14, 2017, approved by AQSIQ and SAC, the revised Hygienic Standard for Feed was officially released and will be put into implementation 1 May, 2018.
The new “Hygienic Standard for Feed” is a mandatory national standard. It focuses on inorganic pollutants and stipulates fungal toxins and the limited value of all kinds of toxic and harmful pollutants in feed raw materials and feed products.
The revisions are mainly focusing on the following aspects. First, it has increased pollution projects which include inorganic pollutants, natural plant toxins, fungal toxins, organichlorine pollutants and microorganisms. Second, types of feed are expended, which cover feed raw materials, additives premixed feed, concentrated feed, concentrate supplement feed and compound feed. Third, it has refined the limited value of feed products in different feed raw materials, different animal types and different growth stages. Forth, with progressing detection technology, it has added and revised the test methods of some projects. Particularly, the new standard changed the limit of total arsenic.
