Date set for opening of first McDonald’s restaurant
McDonald’s first restaurant in Vietnam called McDonald’s Da Kao will open on February 8 at 2-6 Bis Dien Bien Phu Street, Da Kao Ward, HCMC’s District 1. According to Le Ha My Tram representing McDonald’s Vietnam, all preparations for the opening have been completed and the kitchen will go into operation on January 29.
Nearly 50 supervisors and waiters of McDonald’s Vietnam returned to Vietnam on January 18 after over seven months of training in the Philippines. The managerial team trained in Australia will return in one more weeks’ time. According to Tram, to have a smooth operation, the restaurant needs around 150 employees, not to mention office workers. After the first restaurant opens, employees for the second one will be recruited.
The second McDonald’s restaurant is still under construction and its opening date has not been announced.

Situation of Vietnam seafood exports in January, 2014
According to the General Statistics Office, in January, 2014, the total of seafood product has estimated reach 399,000 tonne, increase by 0.8% year-on-year.
According to estimate of MOA, the total of seafood export has estimated reach USD552 million, increase by 13.9 % year-on-year.

Situation of Vietnam raw material and animal feed imports in January, 2014
In January, the total of corn imports has reached 582,000 tonne, equally USD150 millions in value, increased by six fold in volume and increased by 4.6 fold in value. The total of wheat imports has increased by 61.2% in volume and has increased 40.7% in value. Specially, the total of soybean imports has decreased by 74.5% in volume year-on-year. Addition, the raw material and animal feed imports has decreased by 5.2% year-on-year.

Vietnam: Encouragement Whiteleg hatchery shrimp imports from Singapore, Indonesia
Directorate of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, encourage the business whiteleg hatchery shrimp imports from Singapore, Indonesia because almost whiteleg hatchery shrimp company from Singapore, Indonesia has meet the safety disease standard according to Directorate of Fisheries stipulation.
In current, Singapore’s whiteleg hatchery shrimp has exported 18 countries, in which Vietnam was rank the third in number of whiteleg hatchery shrimp imports nearly 81,500 whiteleg hatchery shrimp in 2013.
Vietnam also imported about 15,000 whiteleg hatchery shrimp from Indonesia in 2013.

Developing livestock industry in Ha Noi
Hanoi is one of the top livestock growth provinces of Vietnam with a total of 1.53 million pigs, 19 million poultry and 200,000 cattle, which of, over 13,000 dairy cattle. The meat production was 390,000 tonnes per year, that met 60-65% of consumption demand in Ha Noi.
Hanoi has 17 chain links with 3,025 participants, the chain links has 30 outlets and 1,039 agents, that supplied 306,000 eggs, 9.65 tonnes of pork, 9.15 tons of poultry and 150 kg of beef per day.
There are 12 key dairy farming communes with 10,695 cows, accounted for 81% of the dairy herds entire the city. Milk production was 80,427 tonnes/day, accounting for 82% of total milk production of Ha Noi, the average price of milk reached VND 12,300 per kg.
Ha Noi had 3,147 poultry farms with 6,042,723 birds. The average herd size is 1,000 chicken lays; 1,000 broilers, 500 duck lays.

Vietnam livestock situation at the beginning of 2014
According to the chairman of the Co Dong cooperative, Mr. Tran Van Chien said, the price of chicken was VND29, 000-30,000 per kilogram; the price of egg was VND18, 000-19, 000 per 10 eggs, down VND3, 000 per 10 eggs from period month.
According to the chairman of Vietnam Livestock Association, Mr. Nguyen Van Vang said, Vietnam will participate Asian Economy Cooperation (AEC) in 2015, theretofore, the imports duties will be at 0%, the domestic beef cannot compete with beef imports.
Currently, the total of cattle in Vietnam has reached 5.1 million cows but there is only 200,000 hectares pasture for cattle. Addition, Vietnam must import 180,000 cattle and 600,000 tonnes of beef meat each year.

In 2013, Vietnam imported 68,000 cow cattle from Australia; increased by 64,500 cow compared to 2012. It led to Vietnam become one of biggest customers import Australia live cattle.

Jiangxi Lvhuanmuye Co.,Ltd held the Quarantine Clearance ceremony for 592 France breedings pigs

Japan removed regulation of 100 percent Ethoxyquin testing on Vietnam shrimp
On January 21st 2014, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan (MHLW) issued official announcement on increasing maximum residue limits (MRL) of Ethoxyquin (an anti-oxidant substance used in shrimp feed production) on Vietnam shrimp imported into the market. The new MRL is 0.2 ppm, 20-fold increase from the current level of 0.01ppm. Moreover, Japan decided to lift the regulation of 100 percent Ethoxyquin testing on Vietnam’s shrimp imported into the market.
Japan was the largest importer of Vietnam shrimp with import value of over US$600 million for many past years. Ethoxyquin inspection downgraded Japan to the second position behind the U.S. in 2013.

Mekong Delta plans to produce more 400,000 tonnes of fish in 2014
In 2014, provinces in the Mekong Delta target to raise aquaculture area to 800,000 hectares, up 5,000 hectares year-on-year. Accordingly, local fish production is expected to hit 2.4 million tonnes, up over 400,000 tonnes.
The locality will use the area of 690,000 hectares to farm high economic value species such as black tiger shrimp, giant freshwater prawn and pangasius and other brackishwater and freshwater species. Processing factories are encouraged to sign contracts with farmers for fish purchasing. Pangasius production of the region is expected to reach 1.2 million tonnes in the total area of 5,500 – 6,000 hectares.
In 2013, the Delta reaped 2.2 million tonnes of fish production on the area of 795,000 hectares. The figures made up 92.5% in fish production and 89% farming area over 2012. Its fish output included 541,000 tonnes of shrimp on the area of 650,000 hectares and over 1 million tonnes of pangasius on the area of 5,000 hectares.
