Feed and materials market situation for October, 2013 and forecast for the rest of 2013.

The prices of feed and raw materials in Vietnam increased slightly in October compared with September of 2013. In October, the price of rice bran was VND 5,900 -6,400 per kg, a VND 200 per kg increasing compared to the previous month but an 11% reduction compared to the beginning of this year; the price of corn was VND 6,000-6,500 per kg; the price of soybean increased 2.4% from the previous month to VND 12,800 per kg but decreased 9.9% compared with the beginning of this year and the prices of fishmeal remained unchanged at VND 14,000-20,000 per kg. It is predicted that the prices of feed and raw materials will increase slightly in the last 2 months of 2013 due to demand for domestic animal feed and raw materials being generally increased during the New Year and Lunar New Year.

According to Vietnam Customs, import feed and raw material reached USD 302 million in September, a 0.54% reduction from the previous month but up 16.54 % compared with the same period of the previous year. In 9 months of 2013, import feed and raw materials in Vietnam reached USD 2.37 billion, a 36.58% increase compared with the same period last year.
